There’s no inventory to hold, no customer service to handle, and nothing to ship. You simply share the mug designs you love, and when someone orders through your referral link, you earn commission. It’s an easy add-on income source for influencers, bloggers, micro-creators, or anyone who enjoys social media and good coffee.
How the Program Works
Each approved affiliate receives a unique referral link that leads to the Amy’s Coffee Mugs homepage. This link is shown in the Links section of your Affiliate Dashboard inside your customer account.
Your Affiliate Dashboard includes:
- Earnings: Your commission totals.
- Links: Your unique affiliate link to the shop’s main page.
- Details: Your name and social name (which you can edit).
- Commission Details: Your commission percentage per sale.
- Payment Details: Your connected bank account for payouts.
- Referrals: A list of referrals once payouts have been processed.
Payouts are paused until a bank account is connected in the Payment Details section of your Affiliate Dashboard.
Self-referrals are currently allowed under the program settings.
The Affiliate tab appears for anyone with a customer account, but affiliate program features are only active for approved affiliates.
How to Apply
This program is open only to U.S. residents with a U.S.-based audience.
- Create a customer account or log in to your existing account.
- Click the Affiliate tab inside your account.
- Submit your affiliate application through the form.
- Your application will be reviewed, and you will be notified if approved.
The program is intentionally limited so that affiliates stay closely aligned with the brand and product style.
Affiliate Program Policies
Eligibility
- Must be a U.S. resident with a primarily U.S. audience.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must maintain an active, public social media presence.
- Must comply with all applicable FTC disclosure requirements (for example, clearly indicating “affiliate link” or “commission earned”).
Referral Tracking & Attribution
Referrals and commissions are only generated when a customer uses your unique affiliate link to visit the store and completes a qualifying purchase during the tracking period.
The program uses a first-click attribution model. This means:
- The commission is awarded to the first affiliate whose link the customer clicks.
- If a customer has previously clicked another affiliate’s link before using yours, that earlier affiliate will receive the commission.
Tracking relies on browser cookies. In some situations a referral may not be tracked, including (but not limited to):
- The customer uses a different device or browser than the one where they clicked the affiliate link.
- The customer clears their browser cookies between clicking the link and making a purchase.
- The customer uses private or incognito browsing, or blocks cookies.
Because of these technical limits, not every purchase will generate a commission, even when an affiliate has promoted the store. Commissions are paid only on orders that are correctly tracked and attributed by the system.
Payouts
- Commission rate: 8%
- Minimum payout threshold: $25
- Commissions clear after 45 days to allow for production, shipping, and the 30-day return period.
- Payments are issued monthly when your threshold has been met.
- Payouts are made directly to your connected bank account.
- Commission is calculated on the pre-tax order total only.
Commission Adjustments & Negative Balances
Affiliate commissions may be adjusted if an associated customer order is refunded, canceled, or manually reversed. Individual commissions will never fall below $0, but an affiliate’s overall balance may become negative if a previously paid commission is later reversed.
Commission decreases or cancellations may occur when:
- The order is canceled: If a customer’s order is canceled, the related commission is removed.
- The order is refunded: A full refund cancels the entire commission. A partial refund reduces the commission proportionally.
- The referral is manually reversed: The merchant may cancel a referral manually if necessary in instances of non-compliance.
Negative balances may occur when a commission reversal happens after payout:
- A commission is earned and paid out to the affiliate.
- The customer later receives a refund or the order is canceled.
- The system reverses the previously earned commission, creating a negative “Amount Owed” balance.
Any negative balance will automatically be deducted from future commissions until the balance is fully settled. Affiliates understand that commissions are based solely on successfully completed and retained customer orders.
Tax Documentation
The affiliate platform facilitates the issuance of IRS Form 1099-K when applicable, based on U.S. payment volumes and IRS thresholds. Affiliates are responsible for any tax obligations related to their earnings, with or without the issuance of a 1099-K. Affiliates should ensure their account information is accurate and are encouraged to consult a qualified tax professional with any questions regarding their tax situation.
Approval & Removal
This is an approval-only affiliate program. Applications may be declined based on brand fit, audience alignment, or program capacity.
Affiliates may be removed without notice for any of the following:
- Fraudulent or suspicious activity
- Misrepresentation of the products or brand
- Inappropriate, hateful, or misleading content
- Violations of copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property laws
- Attempts to manipulate tracking, referrals, or commissions
- To keep the program active and aligned with current creators, affiliate accounts with no referrals or activity for 6 months may be reviewed for deactivation. This helps ensure limited program spaces remain available for engaged participants.
Promotional Guidelines
Allowed promotional methods include:
- Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube content, and other social media channels
- Blog posts, product roundups, and lifestyle features
- Email newsletters
- Reels, stories, and short-form videos
- Product photos, coffee bar setups, and cozy morning content
Not allowed:
- Coupon or discount-code aggregator sites
- Misleading claims or deceptive marketing
- Any promotional material that violates copyrights or trademarks of other brands or entities
- Content that inaccurately represents the product or how it is made or shipped
Affiliates may use images provided by the shop, or their own original images or photographs that accurately represent the product.
Product Fulfillment
- All products are designed, printed, packaged, and shipped within the United States.
- A U.S.-based production partner handles printing, packaging, and shipping of each order.
- Orders are printed to order rather than pulled from pre-printed inventory.
- Branded “unboxing” experiences are not guaranteed, as fulfillment is handled by the production partner.
- Note: Mug and tumbler blanks are sourced internationally, so some products may include a country-of-origin stamp on the bottom.
